ILS Achieves SiteWise Gold Certification 2026/27

Industrial Lubricants and Services (ILS) has been awarded SiteWise Gold for 2026/27, the highest grading available in the SiteWise health and safety prequalification system. The result builds on our SiteWise Green grading in 2025/26 and reflects continued investment in the systems that protect our people, our customers and our partners.

SiteWise is operated by Site Safe New Zealand, a not-for-profit organisation focused on raising health and safety standards across construction and related industries. Principals and main contractors throughout the country use SiteWise to prequalify the contractors and suppliers they engage.

What SiteWise Gold means

Every SiteWise member completes an annual assessment, supported by evidence no more than 12 months old. Each submission is reviewed and scored by Site Safe’s qualified health and safety practitioners. A score of 75% or above achieves Green status. Gold is reserved for businesses scoring 90% or above, confirming that high-quality health and safety systems are in place and working in practice.

In the 2026/27 assessment, ILS achieved 92%, up from 89% the previous year.

What the assessment covers

The SiteWise assessment reflects the minimum legislative requirements for contractors operating in New Zealand. It examines how a business manages health and safety across areas including:

  • Health and safety management: A signed policy and documented procedures, reviewed regularly.
  • Hazard and risk management: A risk register covering all work areas, with controls in place and reviewed.
  • Worker involvement: Genuine two-way engagement with staff on health and safety matters.
  • Incident and near miss reporting: Consistent reporting, investigation of root causes and sharing of lessons learned.
  • Inspections: Regular workplace and equipment inspections, with results communicated to staff.
  • Training and competency: Up-to-date training records and qualifications.
  • Subcontractor management: Checking that the contractors and suppliers we engage meet the required standard.
  • Hazardous substances: Accurate inventories, current safety data sheets and safe handling procedures.
  • High risk work, health monitoring and mental health: Controls for higher risk activities, monitoring of worker health, and a commitment to a mentally healthy workplace.

Insurance cover is also verified as part of the assessment.

Continuous improvement

The step up from Green to Gold reflects improvements across several areas, most notably worker involvement, incident and near miss reporting, and workplace and equipment inspections. The assessment also identified areas where we can do better, including training and subcontractor management, and these are a focus for the year ahead.

ILS is continually striving to improve and to make sure that all our staff go home to their families safe each night.

Why it matters

  • Independent verification: Our systems have been assessed and graded by qualified practitioners, not self-declared.
  • Simpler prequalification: ILS is listed as a Gold business in the SiteWise database, visible to every principal using the system, which reduces paperwork during tendering and onboarding.
  • Safer outcomes on site: Strong systems mean lower risk for our customers when our team delivers to, or works on, their sites.

Customers who require a copy of our SiteWise Gold certificate for prequalification purposes can contact their ILS representative or email orders@ils.co.nz.
