Monoethylene glycol (MEG; CAS 107-21-1) is a colourless liquid with low volatility. The product is extremely hygroscopic. MEG is miscible with water, alcohols, aldehydes, ketones and esters. Monoethylene glycol can be used as an intermediate in the production of solvents and resins or as a building block in PET to produce fibers. Furthermore, MEG is commonly used as a raw material for antifreeze fluids.
